This is the Directory of LARP sites, or LARP friendly sites in the North of England which can be booked for events. We've listed many of Scout Sites which we believe have been used in the past, but its always worth checking
Abney Centre
Opened in 1983 the Abney Scout and Guide Centre is situated in the grounds of Abney Hall about 300 yards from Cheadle Green. It is a fully residential centre equipped to sleep 30 and overlooks its own activity field complete with a barbeque area and campfire circle.
The main hall can seat 100. It has its own exit to the fenced in activity field and a serving hatch to the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, freezer, cooker and microwave. It is separated into two areas for preparation and cooking.
The Centre is equipped to sleep 30; 4 single beds and 13 bunk beds. It also has a first aid room and (shown in the gallery below) a lounge seating approx 12.There are BBQ facilities at the rear of the building and at a far corner of the activity field there is a campfire circle.

Birch Hall Scout Campsite
Welcome to Birch Hall Scout Campsite. Birch Hall is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and a great location for long, medium and short walks or bike rides straight from the site. Birch Halls on site activities include alter fires and a camp fire arena.
The Baden Cabin unit offers: 1st class central heated accommodation for 26 visitors consisting of full catering facilities, dining area, lounge/ classroom, 7 bunk rooms 26 beds, male, female and disabled/leaders toilets and showers with a adjacent camping area.
The Powell Cabin unit offers excellent value accommodation consisting of full catering facilities and dining area for 30 visitors, A small leaders room with 4 beds, a 20 x7 meter hall with a 3 acre paddock suitable for a full troop up to 100 campers. The powel cabin offers a single W/C with the main sanitation for this unit consisting of a portacabin with separate male and female facilities and showers

Bowley Campsite and Activity Centre
Bowley Scout Camp and Activity Centre occupies an area of 47 acres of rolling meadowland bounded by woodland and the River Calder offering visitors magnificent views of Pendle and the surrounding countryside. The site is easily reached by road with rail links to the nearby towns of Blackburn and Accrington.

The Lodge - The Lodge at Bowley is an attractive timber building. It has the capacity to sleep up to 32 people and with divided rooms provide a suitable building for mixed groups. There is also a 2 bed room [bunk bed] on the first floor which is suitable for disabled / easy access.
The building has 8 bedrooms [4 beds in each] 6 toilets and 5 showers. There is also a disabled toilet and showers on the ground floor.
The multi-function main hall in the building is large enough for groups to enjoy with plenty of space for eating and socialising, and from the main hall you have instant access to the fully fitted kitchen, with a fridge freezer, a 10-ring hob, and a large oven.
The Den - The building is designed to take 12 people in one large room on camp beds, as well as a second bedroom for 2 people [bunk beds]. There are toilets and showers upstairs.
Running Bear Tipi Village - With four themed Tipis for sleeping, and a huge Tipi for use as a communal area, this village is all set up for up to 32 campers at a time.
Each smaller Tipi comes with its own external fire hearth and space to erect a dining shelter, while the larger one has electricity and lighting, as well as benches around an internal fireplace. There is also a hut within the village with a cooker, fridge and cooking equipment.
Little Bowley - A great permanent campsite, set up for groups of up to 24 before you arrive.
Four wooden-floored patrol tents, sleeping up to six people each, provide dry, comfortable accommodation. and a mess area with fully-integrated lighting, a fully-equipped kitchen with a fridge, hot water and kitchen utensils and cutlery.

Hebden Hey Scout Centre
The centre is situated in the beautifully wooded hillside opposite and overlooking the picturesque National Trust Estate of Hardcastle Crags, as well as the newly refurbished nearby Gibson Mill.
The centre occupies 37 acres of grass and woodlands beside Hebden Water. This provides plenty of play areas for games, outdoor activities and field studies. The site itself is surrounded by large woodlands owned by the National Trust and open to the public.
The centre has two hostels, each is independent of the other
1) Hebden Hey Hostel was opened in 1976 and provides accommodation for a maximum of 44 people in four bedrooms.Each bedroom is equipped with double tier mattress bunk beds for 18, 16, 6 and 4 respectively.
There are two washrooms each with multiple toilets, wash basins and showers. There are two adjoining kitchens and two dining rooms, giving flexibility for parties to cater as two groups if they so wish. Each kitchen has a comprehensive set of equipment, including fridge, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. A chest freezer, microwave cooker and Burco water boiler are also available in the kitchens.
The hostel also has a lounge, boot lobby and drying room, all rooms have central heating feeding radiators from the central gas fired boiler.
2) Tom Bell Hostel provides self catering accommodation for a maximum of 30 people in five bedrooms. The accommodation is centred on the main hall or communal area, this is a multi-purpose room for eating, indoor activities and relaxing in the evenings. There are sufficient stackable plastic chairs as well as Go-Pak tables around the perimeter of the room.
Each bedroom is equipped with double tier mattress bunk beds for 10, 10, 4, 4 and 2 respectively. There are three washrooms, the two older ones each have two wash basins, toilet and shower, whilst the new toilet - finished in 2009 has three sinks, three toilets and two shower cubicles.
The kitchen, which is directly off the main hall, has a comprehensive set of equipment, including a large commercial gas cooker, fridge, freezer, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. The hostel now has gas fired central heating feeding radiators in every room including the main hall.

Linnet Clough Scout and Activity Centre
Linnet Clough is an all year round Scout activity centre and camp site with facilities for a multitude of outdoor activities.
We are situated on the Derbyshire and Cheshire border, close to the towns of Marple and Stockport. At Linnet Clough we have 40 acres of grassland for camping. The camping fields are surrounded on three sides by woods and small ravines, and plantations of trees provide shelter and windbreaks for the camp sites. Our campsite is suitable for groups and events of all sizes. We also have indoor accommodation to suit large or small groups and a complex suitable for residential training courses or conference sessions. We have a resident manager who is supported by a voluntary service crew and field warden team. Silverwood Scout Campsite
Silverwood Scout Campsite is found nestling in the foothills of the Pennines, betwixt the picturesque* villages of Silkstone and Dodworth, Silverwood Scout Campsite is situated only 3 km (1.5 mile) west of Junction 37 of the M1. Close to amenities, yet in a remote location, the site consists of 10 acres of camping area, a purpose built 42 person accommodation block with a modern toilet & shower block adjoining 100 acres of woodland, with good views of the Pennines and the surrounding countryside.
Silverwood Lodge is a self-contained brick building, and consists of:
First Floor
Large activity room with tables and chairs separate kitchen with 6 ring gas range, double sink, large fridge/freezer.
Cooking utensils are provided with crockery and cutlery for 50 people.
Ground Floor
Bedroom 1 7 double bunks 14 persons
Bedroom 2 6 double bunks 12 persons
Bedroom 3 3 double bunks 6 persons
Bedroom 4 3 double bunks 6 persons
The accommodation sleeps 42 and allows for a further 8 persons as day helpers. Please note that this total figure has been set by the Fire Service and must be strictly adhered to.
