Fantasy games (A-F)

This page is for games set in a "fantasy" setting where the group name starts with the letter A-F

Aftermath larp uk
Aftermath is set after a great war that threw back progression 100 years. At the time of the war the world had reached a fantastical version of late medieval times early Tudor with clocks and gunpowder (cannons not muskets) and glass. The science of magic was also highly developed. This all was thrown into chaos by the war. Vestiges of these times exist in dress and artifacts but in essence a dark age has come.

Aftermath is an adult Live action game that has been running since 2008. We have 4-6 events a year most of which recently having been held at Fort Amherst, Chatham, Kent.

Ascendancy lrp
Picture
Ascendancy LRP is a Live Role Playing system set on several continents. Each continent has its own unique flavour, which means there are a huge variety of types of characters that can be played within the system, from fey from Faerie or ninja masters from the Five Thunders to pirates from Archipelago or religious zealots from Salem, and everything in between.

Ascendancy LRP is set in a period spanning from the stone age to a period roughly equivalent to the early 1800s.

Our events are 24 hour time in, non-linear fest style events, with player-driven multi-layered plot lines. We are very keen to include personal plot which revolves around individual characters alongside the major plot which everyone can get involved in. This, along with the friendly attitude of players and crew alike and the fact that even the most basic starting character is "hard" enough to be useful, means it is very easy to get involved from day one

Bathlarp
Picture
The Kingdom of Exiles is more settled than it once was, but the borders are still under threat from all sides and there are always less savoury types who need to be dealt with that come from within. To deal with these problems there are the patrols; small groups of individuals from all walks of life who band together to save lives, find glory, and collect some really weird stories of what they've encountered...

BathLARP is a High Fantasy, high combat, battleboard linear system that runs practically every Sunday of the year in Bath. Due to ties to the University club they run out a new campaign for new members starting in October and finishing in June; they also run three residential events per year, plus any number of tavern nights. The style is mixed - games can be anything from horror to humour to high adventure and everything in between.

Carum Live Roleplay

Carum Live Roleplay is a primaeval fantasy, set in a world at the beginning of its history. As members of the firstborn races, the characters will shape the future of the world, and the cultures within it. This is a primitive land of stone, wood and animal skins, but enlivened by strange magics, powerful dreams and the unpredictable ways of the Incarnu.

You are one of the Metonymy, a newly awoken race of people. You awoke, alone or in a small group, and you might have met other Metonymy along the way. You awoke no more than two months ago, or as recently as today.

Chaosgate

Picture
The town of Chaos Gate was built around the ancient relic of the same name, many attempts were made to dispel, barricade and destroy the infernal gateway but nothing worked and at random intervals creatures from beyond still appeared and laid waste to the surrounding lands.

An adventuring party nearby became ambushed by a necromancer and his retinue, the resulting combat drew the attention of a nearby green skin patrol which also became involved, this became a three fold combat situation which erupted into bloodshed, to make matters worse… The chaos gate opened, hordes of unspeakable tentacled and clawed monstrosities poured through and hearing the battle slithered and charged into the fray. The three previous groups weary from fighting saw the charging creatures and hastily agreed to unite as one and stay off the hell spawn beasts, eventually slaying the fiends and chasing off the rest. At this moment, a powerful sorceress arrived at the tail end of the fighting. After long talks, the rabble made a pact that they would put aside their differences and defend the realm by guarding the gate…
Many years later…
The town of chaos gate stands, it’s one golden rule- regardless of your race, alignment, or religion, as long as you are seen to be guarding the gate and defending the realm, you will always be welcome here with a roof over you head with no cost except your sword arm when it is needed. This of course has interesting consequences as many nefarious characters and creatures may roam the land causing trouble but escape hounding out by abiding by the golden rule… However once outside of the town borders… Well that’s another story...

Dark Awakenings

Picture
Dark Awakenings is a High Fantasy LARP set some time in the not too distant future. It has taken influence from Changeling – The Lost by White Wolf Publications, and is a story about the struggle for survival in a world where faerie tales, dreams and nightmares are a horrid reality.

The Fae were powerful creatures that often bargained, toyed and played with mortals for amusement, entertainment, or for sheer cruelty over the centuries. One ill fated bargain or cruel trick went too far or backfired. Sometime in the early 21st century; the Fae unleashed a wave of energy that swept the globe and condemned humanity to slumber. Every man, woman and child became trapped in a phenomenon known as the “Dreamscape,” unknowingly forced to re-live specific moments of their life over and over for eternity.

By accident or design, there were some who the Dreamscape just couldn't shackle forever. Be it through strength, cunning or sheer luck, they managed to break the Dreamscape's chains and in these moments of lucidity, they stared into the very heart of the Dreamscape. But the Dreamscape stared back, seeing them for what they truly were, and it their last moments there it cursed them for it. They awakened, twisted by the Fae magic, to be no longer fully human. They are the Changelings and this was their Dark Awakening.

Technology in some form does still exist, but the knowledge has long since been forgotten, a side effect of the awakening. As a result, the Changeling world is a throwback to the human Dark Ages, where simple and maintainable technology is the key to survival. But in humanity's absence, or perhaps by the presence of the Dreamscape, the Changeling world is a malleable reality and there are equally impressive powers as technology.

The Fae, and a multitude of other creatures still lurk in the shadows, vying for power and influence over the new Changeling race. You, as a recently awakened Changeling, must fight to keep these powers at bay and for the survival of your people

Darken Vale

Picture
Darken Vale is a fantasy genre Live Action Roleplay (LARP) system. It is set in a world that will seem familiar to enthusiasts of fantasy literature, movies and roleplay games. It draws inspiration from all of these sources and strives to be as inclusive as it can in allowing new players to create and play characters drawing inspiration from their favourite book, film or game.

In this way, Darken Vale’s simple and flexible system aims to be able to say ‘yes’ to a player in most instances, so that they can feel rewarded for creative character design, roleplaying and group interaction. Of course, there have to be clear and unbending examples of where ‘no’ has to be stated within the rules. Darken Vale prides itself on its serious commitment and clear guidelines concerning system safe play, player health and safety and group safeguarding issues.

Within the simple but flexible rules system, players can experience LARP gaming which is easy to learn and enjoy. Players of all ages participate in the events, and all levels of LARP gaming experience (or none whatsoever) are catered for and welcomed!

Rules detailing how combat, spellcasting and player professions are governed provide the ‘crunch’ of the rules set. Attributes and abilities for player race and class provide differentiation and flavour. After that, it is down to the individual player to come up with their unique, compelling and personal ‘Player Character’ (PC), who they will act out and ‘roleplay’ during a Darken Vale event.

Player Characters interact with Non Player Characters (NPC), supporting cast members and ‘extras’ who are the antagonists of the game and help move the plot along, provide combat opponents or interesting people to talk to.

Using these tools, the Elders, or Darken Vale’s plot creators and rules arbitrators, will weave stories where the PCs are the protagonists, the heroes of the piece. Centre stage, top of the bill, they must make decisions, talk and fight their way through tasks and challenges, and ultimately, stay alive. As these characters grow and earn Experience (XPs), they will increase in power, skill and ability, and ultimately become more powerful.

Element

Picture
Element is a Live-Action Role-Playing Game set in the fantasy world of Urutau where the forces of The Elemental Union do battle against the machinations of The Agents of the Void.
Players have the option of creating characters who are either Champion races of the Elemental Union, paragons of their element blessed with particular advantages, or heroes from the elemental races who do everything within their power to match the evil of the Vidians, the races of the Void who would have dominance over all of Urutau.

There is no class restriction to prevent characters following any designs of their choosing, though magic remains a difficult discipline to master if a character seeks initiation. Character Creation is the same for everyone who plays, based on a system of set priorities and the points gained by their arrangement to create the character you want to play

Erda

Picture
Erda had become the grand magocracy under the designs of The Seven. Legends also speak of those who live outside of the blue bloodlines of Erda; those gifted and touched of magic by the New Gods. They say that these people could bring balance, even restore Erda to the way that it was, and destroy the tyrant gods, and then there are those who would say that these heroes do not exist, but this last is a lie.

After the provinces of Augate and Tilisten broke into religious civil war, refugees were forced into the neighbouring province of Osmoor, fleeing the destruction made in the wake of the fighting and raiding.

Erda is a Manchester based, low-fantasy system which runs three times a year. The game team aims to create an immersive low-fantasy world with high quality roleplay and challenging combat situations. Following a colossal fight between two of the gods, the country of Albia is flung into ravaging civil war. As the rest of the world struggles to get to grips with the global impact, refugees from all over the world are stuck smack-back in the middle, sealed off from their homes or watching their own self-destruct.

Faded Glory LRP

Picture
Welcome to the world of Rhiona, a lush and verdant world full of life and joy...no longer.

First there came the Impossible War, so named because no one dreamed such horror could take place. At its conclusion the armies of darkness were defeated but not before they decimated vast portions of the world and ensured it would be years if not centuries before the few pitiful survivors would recover. The dead numbered too many to be counted, too many to be buried. Continents were left to the dead as the living left in droves to find a new place, somewhere untainted by death. Now, some two centuries later, things again look bleak for the races of the living. The gods have deserted us and the Life Stone is dying, If this were not enough, another terror now walks Rihona, a foe that is not repelled by the Life Stone, an ancient foe older that we can imagine and more terrible than anything from our darkest nightmares. The T’cra have returned

Faded Glory runs about 3-4 weekend long events each year and where we can we run smaller one day or 1/2 day events throughout the year. The smaller events are run if there is enough demand from people willing to take part. The bigger ones run about every 3 months.

Fall of Vusoria

Picture
At Erusin the Five Tribes faced the Vexen and prepared for war. However, they soon learnt that the Vexen weren’t their biggest threat. The world shook, the explosions echoed across Vusoria as something unknown struck out against the inhabitants. Silence descended on the world, especially for the priests. Then the creatures came, black chitinous, clawed beasts that killed indiscriminately. Even the Vexen ran. How will you survive?

The Fall of Vusoria is an apocalyptic, survival horror campaign, set in the fantasy world of Vusoria.
Five Tribes each with different religions, culture and skills are forced together to face an unknown enemy and decide how to save the world.

Fields of Illusion

Picture
"As the nights draw in, the weather getting colder, the howls of the wolves, the cries of the animals becoming longer and nearer, there are rumours and scout reports of half eating bodies, all different races and animals and of the parts that remain, some have an extreme lack of blood.

Some say it could just be the lack of food in the harsh weather, others think there is more of a sinister hand at work. Druids and Soothsayers speak of an ancient rite coming to pass, coming into fullness after the next 6 phases of the moon.

The land needs new heroes to step forward and heals its wounds after the recent blight. It has claimed many of its old guard and heroes. The populace and the land suffered greatly and the talk of this new camp, which seemed to appear from nowhere, has done much in aiding this process. Maybe our hope for salvation lies within their ranks and can raise us from the ashes once more."

Fields of Illusion is a high fantasy Live Action Roleplay Game based in Winkleigh, Devon.  Within our Realm, players can choose their own path, be it knight, elf, orc or almost any creature you can imagine. With our custom rule set, you can enjoy the freedoms of a world that has never been explored, attend adventures to the surrounding lands outside of the camp, or you can stay within the 'safety' of the camp boundary.

Five Kingdoms

Picture
‘Five Kingdoms’ is a game of high-fantasy, magic and the unimaginable horrors of a fallen God. Everything you could imagine from a fantasy game; from magical races, to evil necromancers, from dragons and goblins to stolen treasure hoards.

Five Kingdoms is a fest style game, with a main over-arching storying line, that of securing a lost artefact in order to save the known world and its inhabitants. Like most ‘Eye-Larp’ games, this game has grown organically, with multiple strands of narrative emanating from character actions.
Our world is a vast expanse of varying climates, from ash-deserts and festering swamp-land, to lush forests, jungles and frozen mountain ranges. Amidst these lands, we find pockets of civilisation, each as wondrous as the next – offering countless adventures, artefacts and adversaries.
Like all first games, everyone will be finding their feet, both as players and as characters – as we journey across the lands of the known-world we will find all manner of friend, foe and foray into the unknown. So grab your shield and your spell book and embrace this fully immersive story, where you will create as much of the world and occupants as you want – smite the undead, save the village and slay the dragon – as with all our games; you get out what you put in. I look forwards to sharing the road with you.

Forest Argent

Picture
The Forest Argent takes its inspiration from such things as “The Forest Argent” of Arthurian tale; quite directly from the forest in “The Magician’s Nephew” or the strange Fey forests where turning the wrong corner can lead you to somewhere completely different…

For some of the races involved they remember a time when the Forest Argent was available before in a limited way, it was hundreds, or thousands of years ago.

The Forest is incredibly difficult to get to if you are TRYING but certain people seem to fall into it with depressing frequency, why these people are chosen is a mystery. Maybe they are just lucky….

Space and time in the Forest Argent is rather fluid, days and years can pass differently between the worlds attached to it and travel does not always take the same amount of time.

The only people who actively live in the Forest Argent are the Crusaders, but there are also rumours of monsters. Strange beasts that meander through the Forest with strange purposes and unknowable agendas
